Chopper Twirls Wildly into Palm Groves at Popular Southern California Shoreline
A helicopter soaring above a well-attended coastal shoreline unexpectedly started spinning uncontrollably, eventually losing altitude and crashing into a cluster of palm trees as spectators looked on.
Recordings posted on social media depict the helicopter beginning to twirl above Huntington Beach then falling near the border of the shore, where it ends up lodged among palm trees and a staircase near the shoreline route.
Rescue Operation Information
The Huntington Beach fire department stated five persons were transported to a medical facility involving a pair who were in the helicopter and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” subsequent to the crash on the weekend.
Three people on the road were injured. Information on their wounds were not yet released.
What led to the incident was not yet disclosed.
Planned Function
The department indicated the aircraft was associated with an yearly “Cars and Copters” charity gathering planned for the following day.
